Extension and conversion into 4 apartments in Rugby

The project comprised of an extension and conversion of a former butcher’s shop into 4 well appointed apartments suitable for the rental market. Planning permission was obtained in record time with no objections from the surrounding neighbours.
The development required great attention to detail in order for the extension to complement the Victorian character of the original building. This was achieved using matching imperial bricks on the extension, special bricks for the bay window and reclaimed slate on the new roof. The end result was a high quality building which enhanced the appearance of the area. The project was a complete success as a passing local investor bought all 4 flats before they were put on the market.

The clients were a retired professional couple who commissioned GE Construction to design and project manage a new single storey extension comprising an oversized single garage and large utility room. We were quickly able to determine that planning permission was not required for the works which was confirmed in writing with Rugby Borough Council. Plans were drawn up with close liaison with the client to ensure their particular and specific needs were met which included natural light tubes to the garage.
Additional works comprised re-laying a tarmac drive, relocating a manhole, sandstone paving and repairing/repainting the exterior of the house. The whole project was delivered on time and to the complete satisfaction of the clients’ high standards.
